Origin of spontaneous wave mixing processes in multimode GRIN fibers

چکیده

We show that geometric parametric instability (GPI) in graded-index multimode fibers is strongly influenced by higher-order dispersion. By measuring the output spectrum for different core radii, we distinguish peaks generated GPI from other coexisting processes using phase-matching arguments and numerical simulations. highlight first time a non-degenerate process involving two pumps at wavelengths.

Spontaneous four-wave mixing in microring resonators.

We consider spontaneous four-wave mixing in a microring resonator, presenting photon-pair generation rates and biphoton wave functions. We show how generation rates can be simply predicted from the performance of the device in the classical regime and that a wide variety of biphoton wave functions can be achieved by varying the pump pulse duration.

Translation of quantum states by four-wave mixing in fibers.

Optical frequency conversion by four-wave mixing (Bragg scattering) in a fiber is considered. If the frequencies and polarizations of the waves are chosen judiciously, Bragg scattering enables the translation of individual and entangled states, without the noise pollution associated with parametric amplification (modulation instability or phase conjugation), and with reduced noise pollution ass...

Four-Wave Mixing in Optical Fibers and Its Applications

When a high-power optical signal is launched into a fiber, the linearity of the optical response is lost. One such nonlinear effect, which is due to the third-order electric susceptibility is called the optical Kerr effect. 1), 2) Four-wave mixing (FWM) is a type of optical Kerr effect, and occurs when light of two or more different wavelengths is launched into a fiber. Generally speaking FWM o...

Four-wave mixing instabilities in photonic-crystal and tapered fibers.

Four-wave mixing instabilities are theoretically studied for continuous wave propagation in ultrasmall core photonic-crystal and tapered fibers. The waveguide, or geometrical, contribution to the overall dispersion of these structures is much stronger than in conventional fibers. This leads to the appearance of unstable frequency bands that are qualitatively and quantitatively different from th...

Degenerate Four Wave Mixing in Photonic Crystal Fibers

In this study, Four Wave Mixing (FWM) characteristics in photonic crystal fibers are investigated. The effect of channel spacing, phase mismatching, and fiber length on FWM efficiency have been studied. The variation of idler frequency which obtained by this technique with pumping and signal wavelengths has been discussed. The effect of fiber dispersion has been taken into account; we obtain th...
